JHIRI IN THE COWBOY STREET

BOOK REVIEW:

TITLE: JHIRI IN THE COWBOY STREET
AUTHOR: NAYANA PHUKAN
GENRE: CRIME/ PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER
RATINGS: 4.2/5 ⭐

The story beings with old fresh memories of Aditya Roy- his days in Shillong with his first love Jhiri, but that she had thought him completely as a good friend and nothing more than that. Years passed by and now Aditya is engaged with his lady love Sia. Everything was fine till the day Sia’s uncle cum local guardian in Delhi was found dead in Bangkok.

When all his family members rejected his tour to Bangkok, Aditya supported it, unaware of the tragedy that was about to happen. Being a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Aditya suspects if the death is not an accident. As he travels to Bangkok and meets the hooker who was with Uncle before his death, Aditya was shocked beyond limits. She she stands- his first love Jhiri, but now with a new name Jim and an unexpected identity- A prostitute in Cowboy Street.

Right from the beginning the story is fast paced and shocks us from time to time. The halt that Uncle Vijay’s death should actually be a murder as another such case has happened and the connecting point is Jim was indeed shocking. Aditya’s character sketch is good, especially during the times he meets Jim and caring for her till the end.

The writing style is simple to understand. Just like the last book by this author, this is also set up in a foreign land and it is good. Nice ending!

Recommended for readers who loves fast paced mystery reads.
